Description:
For David Taylor, 3D printed sand is a beautifully tactile material, naturally subdued and reminiscent of sandstone in character.
The object developed in this project is the Sandstone table lamp. The major advantage of this process is that all the work is done in the 3D drawings meaning no tooling no finishing, just press ”print”. The point of departure has been to work with simple yet striking shapes that use both the process and the material to the full.

David Taylor
David Taylor likes to explore the boundaries of different materials, especially metal surfaces, and his work has often a raw, sculptural and distinctive touch. Taylor's work covers areas as divergent as product design, public space art and very limited-edition design/art objects.
Scottish born, he works in a large studio/home environment called MELLÖSAVERKEN, which is an old ruler factory deep in the Swedish countryside.
Here his ideas are produced, developed and realized in a non-linear fashion that is less like work and more like play.
